DADAKIRE WALAWWA
Where heritage meets timeless elegance. A century of homecomings, now open for your celebration.
A century of homecomings
A century ago, a family raised a house for gathering. The verandahs, the arched doors and the lamp-lit evenings are still here, waiting for the day you begin a story of your own.

Our Story
A walawwa (also spelt walauwa) was once the manor of a headman or chieftain, a family home and the heart of the village around it. Dadakire Walawwa keeps that spirit: Ceylonese craftsmanship meeting colonial lines, wide verandahs that invite you to linger, and tall green doors that have opened onto a hundred years of arrivals.
The first wedding took place here in 1935. In 2026 the family marked the house’s centenary, and chose to share it, so more families can begin their own chapter on these same grounds.

The House
Choose a part of the house. The drawing wakes it up, and the photograph shows you how it looks when the lamps are lit.

Cane chairs, warm lamps and a deep tiled roof. This is where guests arrive, where the family greets them, and where the best photographs happen after dusk.
The Setting
In Dehideniya, Poholiyadda, near Galagedara and just outside Kandy, the walawwa rests among coconut palms and old trees, quiet, green and entirely its own.
